Owner, Aveda Senior Artist
Stephanie Jones is a stylist and the proud co-owner of Element Salon and Day Spa, celebrating four years of ownership this year. Stephanie began her journey in the beauty industry in 2010, when she attended the Douglas J Aveda Institute of East Lansing. Although, her passion initially lay behind the chair, creating inspirational looks and creative designs, Stephanie began to realize her true potential while earning her Bachelor's degree in Business Management at Northwood University. When she and her husband, Michael, were given the opportunity to purchase the salon, they seized the opportunity to combine her skills as a stylist, leader, and active community member. Under Stephanie and Michael's ownership, the salon has doubled in size, growing from eight employees to sixteen. Stephanie truly believes Element is the home of the most talented professionals in the area. Employee development, advanced education, and exceptional client care are Stephanie's top priorities for her and her team. Stephanie encourages everyone to come experience Element for themselves, and become a part of the Element family's journey!
Owner, Massage Therapist
Michael is the co-owner and licensed massage therapist at Element Salon and Day Spa. After high school graduation, Michael attended Northwood University where he was a collegiate athlete, earning his bachelors degree in entertainment and sports promotion, and business Administration. While in college he became the manager of this salon and spa, formerly known as Shannon’s, where his wife worked as the lead stylist. Michael was able to help implement new ideas, policies, and goals, while getting an inside view of the internal dynamics of the business. After graduation he left to start a career corporate America, but shortly after he and Stephanie were given the opportunity to become the new owners of the salon, which then became Element Salon and Day Spa! Over the next four years he molded his management and athletic experience and background with their newfound business and became a licensed massage therapist, enabling him to help heal people and lead a team of professionals to success.
Jessica Pickering has been a massage therapist for five years, and has brought her valuable experience to the Element team. Jessica has a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, and uses her education to help assess each client's specialized physical needs. Jessica's passion is helping people who are in pain to feel better and stronger. When she's not at work, Jessica can be found spending time with her fiancé, fishing, camping, and playing with their dog.
Jessica Seagraves has been a nail tech at Element for five years, and is also the manicurist instructor at a cosmetology school. Jessica loves developing relationships with her clients and helping them feel more beautiful and more relaxed, and was drawn to the Aveda brand because of the emphasis on care for clients and for the world. Jessica loves doing pedicures because she loves to see her clients' satisfaction when their feet look brand new! She also specializes in Shellac and dip nails. Jessica is constantly learning new techniques to bring to both her students and her clients. When she's not at work, Jessica can be found with her partner, Anthony, and her daughter, swimming, reading, or playing board games.
Esthetician, Nail Technician
Haley Allen has been a nail technician at Element for two years, and recently became a licensed esthetician as well. Her passion for nails and skin care comes from her love of art, painting, and design. Haley specializes in Shellac with unforgettable nail art. She loves taking care of her clients, and leaving them with an unforgettable experience. Haley is really looking forward to expanding her role at Element by adding makeup, waxing, and facials. In her free time, Haley enjoys art and home décor projects, and spending time with her friends and family.
Aveda Emerging Artist
Natalie Vella is a cosmetologist at Element, and her love for Aveda stems from her attendance at the Douglas J Aveda Institute. Natalie loves having fun with color, especially all things bright and fun! Some of her other favorite services include haircuts and eyelash extensions. When Natalie’s not at work, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, and catching some rays.
Aveda Senior Artist
Shelly Russell has seventeen years experience as a cosmetologist and has been with Element since 2006. Shelly enjoys doing hair, waxing, nails, and facials. Her advanced education courses have focused primarily in advanced cutting techniques while remaining up to date in Aveda color application and formulation. Shelly’s top priorities are attention to detail in her work and establishing meaningful client relationships. In her free time, Shelly enjoys spending time with her husband, children, extended family and Siberian husky. She enjoys camping, kayaking, hiking, and both water and snow sports.
Aveda Master Artist
Holly Zdybel has been a cosmetologist for over seven years, and loves being a member of the Element family. Holly is certified in the Brazilian Blowout technique, hair extensions, and lash lifting, but her favorite service is haircuts. Holly loves helping her clients see a dramatic change! When she's not helping to beautify people in the salon, Holly enjoying heading up north with her husband and her German Shepherd.
Aveda Junior Artist
Schayna Peterson is a Junior Stylist at Element who began her career at the Douglas J Aveda Institute. She's been with Element for about two years, and in addition to providing amazing services for her clients, she's also attended the Aveda Congress Fashion Show and continuing education classes with Aveda, and has become Element's Aveda Ambassador. Schayna's favorite service is color, because she enjoys seeing dramatic changes for her clients. During her spare time, Schayna enjoys shopping, spending time with friends and family, and relaxing at her cabin.
Aveda Emerging Artist
Maggie McGee is an Emerging Artist at Element Salon & Day Spa who recently graduated from Douglas J Aveda Institute in East Lansing. Maggie began her career at Element as a receptionist before attending cosmetology school and is excited to start the next chapter of her life as a hair stylist. She enjoys performing all services from highlights and balayage to all other color applications. Nothing makes Maggie happier than seeing her clients impressed and obsessed with their hair after having an appointment with her! Maggie is extremely excited to have the opportunity to give people the hair style they love and deserve everyday. During her free time, Maggie enjoys watching movies, exercising, and spending time/creating memories with her friends and family.
Aveda Master Artist
Christina Sunday started her career with Aveda in 2011. She began as part of the front desk team while still in cosmetology school at In Session Arts of Cosmetology. After receiving her license, she trained at the Douglas J. Aveda Institute in Royal Oak, and worked one on one with Aveda-trained stylists. Christina loves short haircuts - especially pixies - and uses precision in all her work. Christina has an Associates degree in science, collects comic books, and loves to cook. When she's not hard at work at Element, she spends most of her free time outside with her husband, son, and cat.

Felicia Stewart graduated from MJ Murphy Beauty College while attending high school, and has been doing hair, nails, makeup and waxing for five years. Felicia has been working with Aveda for four years and has been to a variety of Aveda's continuing education classes. Felicia's favorite service technique is Baylage, and she loves creating the perfect blonde! She is certified in Hot Heads tape-in extensions and the Brazilian Blowout treatment. Working in the cosmetology industry has always been Felicia's passion, and she strives to make every client's experience excellent. Felicia likes going to the gym, taking her beloved miniature Dachshund Lola for walks in the park, and spending time with her significant other, Anthony.
Ashley Sutton is a licensed esthetician, who graduated from the Esthiology program at Douglas J Aveda: East Lansing in November 2019. She has been using Aveda products for years, and loves to represent the brand through her services. Although she loves every service she provides, her favorites include the Aveda customizable facials, the Plant Peel facial add on, eyebrow tinting, and makeup. Ashley’s motivation is derived from boosting her client’s confidence through their skin, as well as providing a pampering escape, away from their busy lifestyles. She cannot wait to show her clients how to obtain healthy skin and how the Aveda products achieve real results! Outside of Element, Ashley enjoys spending time with her friends/family, having fun and relaxing at her lake house, and going on adventurous road trips!
Jillian McCoy has been a Licensed Massage Therapist for one year. After graduating from the Naturopathic Institute in 2019, she has been bringing her energy-driven therapeutic bodywork to those whom need space for rest, renewal and restoration. Jillian’s strengths in Myofascial, CranioSacral, Reflexology and energy healing amplify her work. With a never-ending curiosity, she aims to always be learning new and diverse techniques to better customize for the needs of her clients. When aiming toward balancing her own life, Jillian spends her restorative time reading outdoors, practicing yoga and meditation, (all while consuming coffee), as well as relaxing with her partner and their hounds- Tippy and Evinrude.
